I'm thinking about buying a used computer and I wanted to know what do I need to buy in order to fix it?

It depends on what is wrong with it. For hardware repair like replacing a modem or something in those lines I would suggest going to a shop. For other OS repair/Maintenance you should have a good virus and spyware scan. You should also purchase software like System Mechanic that you can use to repair registry problems and things like that.

I think is better to buy a new computer.
You will lose more money fixing the old computer,than to buy new.
But if you want to buy a used computer than you have to see what is wrong with it first and than to spending time fix it.

what is your expectation about its performance. buy a used one if you have time and wanna learn all the hairy details. buy a new one if you are busy and shops to sell parts are not handy. Then depending on your budget, how fast achip, how much memory and how latest a video card you want or afford

A new computer. You will, probably, spend more fixing the old one than the cost of a new one.
