A factor is a number that is multiplied with another factor to create a number.

example: 3 * 4 = 12
3 and 4 are factors of 12.

Many numbers have factors in common with each other. Take 12 and 24, for example:

The factors that 12 and 24 have in common are:

The largest number that can be divided evenly into 2 numbers.
Like the largest common factor of 6 and 12 would be 6.
The largest common factor of 15 and 60 is 15.

for example, the greatest common factor of 14 and 21, is 7 because that is the smallest number that both are divisible by, excluding 1
