i mean is it the whole usa?? ya im a little confused

since the statement is mainland north america and not mainland USA, it encompasses all of Mexico, USA, and Canada except for anything that an island. if the statement was mainland USA, then it would include all of the US except the states and territories that are not touching the rest of the country, ex. Hawaii.

It is the whole of the U.S.A. minus Alaska, Hawaii, the U.S. Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico.
Another term that means the same is: the contiguous United States.

anything that is not an island. ie- hawaii, would not be considered part of the mainland.
