If you buy the kind that kills them from far away, you can spray around the opening of the hole, then they won't go back into it, and hopefully find a new home far away. Do it at night though, or they will attack you.

First of all, wait till dusk or dark. The critters are less active then. Use a strong wasp spray and empty the can into the hole. Put a rock or some other object on top of the hole and leave it overnight.

Here in New Orleans we have seafood boils. Get 40#'s of fresh shrimp, some Cayenne, and white pepper, Zatarans crab boil, garlic, lemons, onions, etc.
Boil shrimp for 7 mins. Let soak for 10 mins. Dump hot boil water on ground where hornets are.
Pig out on shrimp as hornets die. (along with grass and anything else you pour it on).

wait until all have gone in for the night, pour Gasoline if you want it should kill them but whatever you do, DO NOT light at anytime, blow up in your face, you can pour Moter Oil, some kind of poisen, I don't think it will kill them to spray in the hole, want reach them, is a good idea to cover hole after you pour something in.I have used Gas it works, just don't light it PLEASE.
