Is it in a mountain setting or in a wide valley with a big flood plain?

The most important factor is the stream channel's resistance to erosion. Is it loose soils of a wide valley causing meanders, or is it in a mountain valley flowing in nearly straight lines over resistant rock?

I'm sure this is in your book too.

I would say age, speed, streambed material and whether or not it freezes over in the winter, to begin with.
