Manchester City has won the most promotion to the Premiership (First Division before 1992-1993 season) as English Second Division champions. they have won it 7 times in 1898-1899, 1902-1903, 1909-1910, 1927-1928, 1946-1947, 1965-1966 & 2001-2002.
since 1992-1993 season, the English Second Division was renamed as English First Division & later becomes English League Championship in 2003-2004 season.
