I got a divorce in Georgia about 11 years ago and my lawyer put that in the paperwork that I wanted my maiden name back. You just have to ask and when the judge declares you divorced, he will say to you "And you wish to restore your last name to your maiden name?" or something like that.

Hope this helps.

If you are getting a divorce and it isnt final yet you can request your maiden name to be rstored and the judge will grant it then all you have to do is take a copy of the decree to the license bureau, social security etc and they will change it. If you didn't request this in the divorce then you will have to consult an attorney to get it legally changed.

Go through the courts.....You can do this on your own without a lawyer. Check the internet for information. Cost will not be much if you do it yourself. Go for it! If you are getting out of a bad marriage why keep his name!
God Bless!

you could have done it at no cost in the divorce but if you didn't you just go to probate court and file,it's about 100 dollars and you need a reason...........like"I dont want to be associated with that no good SOB"
