depends on wether the oldest one is a girl or boy. Either way I think it depends more on the girl. Girls need more privacy at an earlier age. Depends on the girls character aswell.
I would say 15 is the perfect age if its a boy, and 13 when its a girl. I think a girl should be able to have their own rooms earlier as they go through things during that age that may be embarassing to share with their brothers...and their brothers will not understand these things. they should have the privacy to deal with their development alone.

There is no law on this but it is generally agreed that children of different gender should have seperate rooms by the age of 8.
But good luck if you live in a council house and ask for a bigger house because your children are sharing a room!

When one of them wants his or her own room. This happened to us a year ago, my kids (boy and girl) were sharing the big bedroom in bunk beds, and my son, who is the oldest, (6) said he wanted his own room. As he was the one who wanted the change, we said he would be the one to go into the smaller bedroom. He was quite happy about this and helped decorate it.
My kids were 6 and 3 at the time, which I know is quite young, but I think if they were happy sharing we would have left it until they were older.

If you already have the room, do it now. My kids (boy and girl) have never shared a room. Even when we didn't have an extra room, we set up my son's crib in the living room.
I'm not saying at that age they notice anything, but it definately makes it easier. Now that they're 4 and 5, we're working on hiding private parts from eachother and other people.

I seperated my 2 kids when my girl was 6 and my son was 4, they got along much better after that happened. I figured my girl was in school and friends starting to come over, made things easier and less fighting.

Our local housing states 11years - i think this is madness.
The quicker the better. As adults we want our space, so respect your children and give them their space. They are mini humans with their own minds and opinions just like us.
