Why do you think the ones who ask this ask ? Do they have low self esteem. or just fishing for a compliment

probably low self-esteem, sometimes they are being funny. Sometimes, they just don't know any better. They may rely too much on their looks and not enough on their brains. Or they may be known as brainiacs in the real world and not incredibly good looking and are looking for an escape from their life. There's really no way to know, I'm sure each person that asks the question is looking for something different.
Or, like a good friend of mine, they may post things to invite comments just for the attention. Maybe they don't get enough attention in real life, or maybe they just like the daily ego stroke. Who knows?
It could also just be something as simple as they don't know what to ask!

I haven't quite figured that out either.
Either they are not considered good looking and make an avatar that is, or they are first time askers who have no idea what to ask, or they are just immature people, (of all ages, I suspect) who want to see the compliments.

Yes you are, I think it's probably kids most of the time just being wise crackers. I imagine some are actually fishing for compliments, isn't that sad, on a website where you have no idea who the other person is.

I think you are pretty. Sexy? Well, I have to say my wife is. She is the one in my life. So, do not take it personal. As for the others who do ask this question, yes they have low self-eteem and are looking for a compliment to reassure themselves.

They are children asking childish questions. I am guilty of asking silly or some would say childish questions, but never asked if my avatar is sexy, or don't you just love me. By the way "Am I pretty, is my avatar sexy, and don't you just love me?" Oh, the answer to your questions is YES.

I think they already know they're pretty but they want other people to say it. It's okay. I don't hate anyone cuz they're beautiful.
