i am seriously looking for a job, and the govt won't help someone who doesn't have children, i have already checked into that. i am not asking for long term assistance, and sure don't need smart *** answers, such as: "get a job", i am trying.

If you are in the US, your state probably has unemployment insurance, training benefits, and food stamps. Google.com the name of your state and include the words "unemployment benefits" and etc.
If you are not in the US, I recommend getting a short-term or day labor job e.g. gas station work, unskilled construction worker, and etc.
You can search sites like www.craigslist.org, Yahoo! HotJobs, and monster.com.
You seem computer literate - you're on Yahoo! Answers. I recommend getting on Yahoo! 360 too. It will allow you to quickly create a web page, blog, and etc to market yourself. Check out vistaprint.com for free business cards. That might help too.

I am very sorry you have such hard times. You know social services should be able to help you. If you don't qualify for unemployment there are state progrmas that help with job placement, here in texas it is the workforce commision. Also I know this sounds wierd but I work for a local Home health agency and we have found that alot of times there are many unadvertised community resources even Adult protective services even no you are not being abused may be able to help you with some expenses or lead you in the right way. Good Luck and don't lose hope or faith you will soon find the job you need.

Depending on where you live, you can apply for unemployment insurance based on your past work - really depends on how long you've been unemployed.
One thing is for sure - if you're in a position where food and housing is a problem til you get a job, call your city's Social Services agencies for assistance. They won't give you money, but will help out with food and shelter.
Also, head over to the local unemployment office to get free job counseling and good leads on open jobs.
And, if you're not proud, you may want to head over to Manpower or some other day labor place and pick up some day labor jobs just to get some money flowing.

i'm with Diamond.
