Every so often there is a bug that crawls up out of our drain. It has a little tan body with a bunch of long skinny legs. I looked up centipedes and millepedes, but it' doesn't look like any of the pictures.I saw. Does anyone know of the bug I'm talking about?

Maybe a Damsel Bug, a Ferocious Water Bug, a Water Scorpion, a Daddy Long-Legs, or a Silver Fish.

Need more information.

Precisely:

How many legs are a bunch?
-6 legs indicates a bug
-8 legs indicates a spider or relative
-more than 10 legs and you probably have some form of centipede

how many body parts does it have?
-head, middle, end (insects)
-head and body (spider)
-segmented body (centipede/millipede)

does it have antennae?

does it have wings?

color?

size (length)?

When trying to identify something, precision is important otherwise we're all taking shots in the dark. If possible, get a camera and take a snapshot.. even a blurry picture is better than nothing.

I've seen those things before as well. They are icky. I don't know what they are, but I'll also stick around to see what the answers are.

PS. I don't think she is referring to a silverfish. I think these are bigger, with a tan body that's about an inch to 1 1/2 inches long.

I think it is the House Centipede. A relative of the centipede that is much faster and capable of catching flies.
