Yes it can. In theory. In the end you're really going to mess up your car's transmission, get metal shavings in there. Your best bet, If I was you, would be to just rent a Ryder or U-Haul truck, and get a car dolly you can haul your car on. I'm telling you, in the end you'll save your car, and the hassle of the possibility of breaking down in the middle of Wyoming or something.
Yeah, you can add a tranny cooler, and yeah that may help, and you probably could stop every 500 to 1000 miles, but think about it, you gotta pay to have that installed, which in itself is worth it in such a case, but not for moving cross country.
Since you're only going to need it for the move, you'd be better off renting a truck and getting a car dolly to tow your car. Trust me, it would be 100% worth it to me, maybe cost a little more up front, but be less of a pain in the a$$ in the end.

you will overheat the trans. if you pull it in OD. Add on cooler is a must.

please exercise caution here,even though your vehicle can do this you must use lower speeds. check ALL fluids every 500 miles and change oil and filter at each end of trip. small amount to pay for good protection good luck
