Having lived both places, I would choose California both as a place to live and to visit. However, if you are retired and want to spend all your time hanging around retirees, Florida is the place to be.

I've visited Florida and the wheather was wonderful, hot and dry, sunshine state all the way... not a cloud.
When I went to California I expected the same thing but instead it was very hot but really humid. I was sweating all the time even at night. Bit cloudy as well! So, if I have to choose I'll go for Florida but the storms over there are pretty scary.....
You know what... I'll stay in Italy!!!

They are both horrible... Florida with its hurricanes and California with its 10-lane highways and gas prices.

If you are talking about taking a vacation and not living though, I'd probably go with Florida personally, just because it's probably cheaper and Disney World is there and lots of fun things. But, I do love San Francisco in California.

I grew up in Florida and like it, but not the heat and humidity and not the bugs. I have never been to California, but would not like to be there when an earthquake happens. I would choose northern CA, because I have heard how nice it is there.

Florida - that is a biased answer from a Florida resident. I have visited California, and it is a nice place to visit.

If you like hurricanes, humidity, large and I mean REALLY huge bugs then Florida is the place. Visit in the winter, not in summer.

If you like cleaner low humidity air...not in the large cities, and endless places to visit and natural beauty then Central to Northern California and along the coast is the place to be.
