If you had to choose between public school and home schooling your children. Would you rather home school them or allow the Gov. to do it.

I think there are many reasons why a child should go to school rather than home school.

First, I don't think everyone is qualified to teach. That is why teachers go to college, study hard and get a degree. In home school, anyone can teach the child and have no knowledge of anything.

Second, social skills!!!

Third, It doesn't have to be public schools. There are many affordable private schools out there.

I would choose public school. I don't believe in home schooling. I think children need to learn how to interact with others.

I home-schooled my boys. They were plenty socialized in our neighborhood (apt complex- lots of kids). My younger son was in little league and my older one a skater. They weren't getting much out of public school so I started hsing them. They both graduated early and are very intelligent. They still talk about stuff we learned together. They're 26 and 27 now.

My daughter was in public for awhile but she was having a hard time because of a.d.d. and the school wasn't giving her what she needed. She also had lots of socialization apart from school.

For junior high and high school she was in a charter school were she had classes she attended regularly so she could become more independent from me.

Why does everyone think the kids have to be in public school to be socialized? Most HS ers belong to groups where kids get to do stuff together- many have special classes they would never get in ps- and unless the kids are purposely isolated, kids have plenty of opportunities to socialize.

Public school does not always meet a child's needs. It works for some but not for all. Homeschool is also not for everyone.

i would rather send them to public school, I think home schooling, doesn't let children interact with other kids. They also don't get to see what happens in the real world.

I would rather send my daughter to public school for the social experience. There are still teachers out there that inspire, and I don't have the self-discipline to home school!

That is a personal choice. I home schooled my son a couple of years because he was falling behind in public school. When I sent him back to public school he did fine. You have to be prepared to teach because that will be what you'll be - a teacher - in addition to being a mother, wife, cleaning lady, cook, etc. It's challenging but I found it well worth it.

Public school and stay involved with your child's education.
Children need to learn social interaction and the best place to learn is in public school. How else will they learn to grow up and become independent adults?

I'd put my child in a public school. that gives the kids a chance to make friends on there own.
