It is not dangerous to be bit by a boa constrictor. I have a few times as I had the smell of rabbit on me and well, I basically asked for it although I didn't know it at the time. They are actually to always be respected but we have ones that are big, and yet so docile, peaceful creatures. I think too many people think of stuff that they see in the movies(like, Snakes on a plane, oh pleeeeeeeeeeease, everybody should just boycott that movie!Give me a break!)or on wildlife. Wild snakes, boas are very different than captive bred ones. Disregard somebody writing that it is very dangerous from a boa bite as they are so huge and all of that. It is more scary, catches you off guard, but it is not dangerous. They are not venomous or poisonous. They can have incredible patterns and when handled since babies, can be very sweet temperaments. Just always have to remember and respect what they are. By the way, if you get bit by a dog or a cat, that is more dangerous to you as they have way more bacteria in their mouths then snakes do. As others said, if it happens, just don't pull away, and once release of the jaw, then keep the area from bleeding, keep it clean, apply a disinfectant and you should be fine! If there is any redness, swelling, warmth, around the bites, then you need to see a doc. Otherwise, no need to worry! Enjoy the boa!

If you are talking about an adult red tail boa, then yes it can be dangerous. The bite isnt dangerous, but you have to understad they grow 10-12 feet and weight alot, especially females. If you ever get bit by an adult, make sure it doesnt get a grip with its body around you cause then it may be fatal from such a big snake. The are so incredibly strong so its not the bite that you should worry about its the strength that the snake has. There arent any venomous snakes in the pet trade neway and boas and pythons though are constrictors and some grow huge are completely harmless when it comes to biting for medium size constrictors. i know somebody who had a 20 foot burmese python and he got bit once and the result was 21 stiches. so beware of the hazards

Ugh, Fatal Attractions. I'm glad you recognize the great lengths these people go to to make reptiles look evil. I personally think it's one of the worst shows ever. You're more likely to be killed by a dog or a horse than a snake. The risk is very low. Boas are usually well mannered and tolerate handling well. There is nothing that says they can't be a good first snake. They aren't skittish and shy like ball pythons, and they hardly ever refuse food. However, while accidents are very rare, it's important that you take steps to prevent them. Good practices include keeping the cage locked, using tongs to feed, not your hands, handling regularly, and always washing your hands before handling, so you don't smell like small furry animals (if you have any). When you go to pick her up, grasp the middle of her body, not the head or tail (that's where predators would attack). Don't grip too tightly, let her grip you. Be respectful of her head, some are headshy and will strike if you get too close or make fast movements in front of her. Bites don't hurt that bad, just don't jerk back and rip her teeth out. Extra painful for you, and her. If your boa gets over 8 feet (which is rare) you should always have someone else present while you're handling her. If she does bite you and won't let go, spray her mouth with a little bit of alcohol. If she throws coils, don't let them get around your neck, or your arms if they're around your chest. Most people can overpower a boa, and two people definitely could. Good luck!

No, as boa's are not poisonous. It may hurt some and you have to be careful getting it to release so u dont rip its fangs out, but it's not a big deal. Personally i have been bit by a ball python and its a little suprising but not at all dangerous. If it does bite and will not release you have to either soak it or spray it with water until it releases.

no,as long as you wash and disinfect it after you get bit.I know from personal experience,I forgot to remove my boas hide box from its cage and while I was cleaning the cage my hand would go by the opening and I would get hit.It doesn't hurt because it is so fast,it's the thought and seeing it that scares you,but no I was a wildlife officer and removed many a snakes and have been bitten and owned a business in which we removed reptiles from properties and have been bitten. Now a large python and its 120 large teeth is a different story and I have caught a few of those people have set free

If you are worried about venom, constrictors (as a general rule) are not venomous.
However, anything that bites typically has bacteria in its mouth. It's important to keep the bite area very clean. If you are really worried, take a bacteria sample from the animal's mouth and have it analyzed.

The only harmful thing about being bit by a boa is the scariness of the bite and the reason why he bit you. I have been bit several times by my snakes and each time it was because I smelled like their food. Like any other wound, keep it clean and you will be fine.
