The Yanks are always in first because of the ghosts in Yankee stadium. There's so much history and pride in that place that the ghosts cannot allow Yanks to finish anywhere but first.
As for the Red Sox, I guess someboby has to come in second.

The reason is that the Yankees have more money than the Red Sox to spend. Both teams can get what they want but the Yankees have more stability.

Because they have the top two payrolls in the MLB. The Yanks spend over $200 million on their team, the Red Sox pay $120 million. The rest of the AL East can't compete (Orioles and Jays spend around 72 mil, D-Rays spend 35 mil). The reason the Yanks are always ahead of the Red Sox is because they spend $80 million dollars more.

well correction 2 ur question, the sox came in first in the ALeast in 2004 when they went on 2 win the world series. but going on i would say its cause of the curse of the bambino. that came from when the sox traded the babe 2 the yanks

imagine of it this way: The Sox have 10 left and the Yanks have 11. If the Sox flow 4-6, like they did of their very last 10 video games and the Yanks flow 9-2 like they did of their very last 11 video games, the Yanks win the branch via 2 video games.

Nowadays it comes down to money and the NYY willingness and ability to absorb any salary. But nothing is forever. I grew up in two eras when the NYY were NEVER in first or second.
I mean, the whole post-1964 to 1975 era and the '80s. Enjoy it while you can as you ever know.
