Too hot for life anywhere near the subsolar point; too cold on the opposite side, and horrendous windstorms between them. Human life would be problematic, at best.

It would be like Mercury, which is in exactly that situation. The side of the Earth facing the Sun would be too hot to live on (for plants, animals or insects) and the side facing away would be too cold. There'd be a little ring between the two that would be habitable, but by the time the oceans finished boiling off the hot side and re-freezing on the cold side, I don't know what if anything would be left to live in that little habitable zone.
Anyway, it's a bad idea, so if you were thinking of stopping the Earth's revolution, don't.

It's a moot question! the sun will die and become a dwarf star long before that and all life on earth will cease. Even if earths revs changed so that the sun shone on one side, as an earlier respondent wrote life would become untenable since the sun side would be too hot and the dark side too cold.

saudi arabia would have greenery and be like shangrila while the USA would be a wasteland and asia would probably not be there and australians would be smarter and superpowers while the americans would think more of hunting for their next meal.
thats all assuming that the change would have been this way in the first place from the beginning of time...if it happened suddenly...say goodbye to 90% of the world population the rest of the 10% would die in a few months

eternal summer on that part of the earth, arid climate (a bit like saharah desert, but worse).
eternal winter on the other side (probably some dry ice too (frozen CO2) ).
In between? well, huricanes, tornados, floods: take your pick.

Very likely, humans may cease to exist because the temperature on earth would be too high or too low.
