I've been on synthroid for a reallllly long time. If your thyroid tests come back normal then it is doing all it is going to do and tha tis bring your thyroid levels back into a "normal range." It is true that low thyroid is known to contribute to weight gain and feelings of depression; but if you have those symptoms you must also do something like trying exercise and eating right to help the meds do a more effective job in helping you...no pill is magic it is just supposed to help normalize what your body does...

We often see hypothyroid symptoms totally reversed when commits to a plan that supports balance through nutrition and daily self-care. Learn here https://tr.im/LP2Ve

Consume foods naturally high in B vitamins, such as whole grains, nuts, and seeds, and iodine (fish, seaweed, vegetables and root vegetables).
Exercise daily, at least 30–60 minutes per day, 4–5 times a week.
Practice deep breathing and other techniques that trigger the “relaxation response” – such as meditation and guided visualization.

STOP PUMPING YOUR BODY WITH ALL THESE DRUGS!!!! Antidepressants are ********! Now if you need something for your thyroid that's understandable, but try to avoid taking medications as much as you can... all those chemicals are really bad for your body in the long run. Talk to your doctor about trying something else if this isn't working, something with minimum side effects. Also to go Wholefoods or some place like that and see if you can find a natural herbal cure for your problem. Be healthy...
EXERCISE!!! That'll help the weight problem and depression because of the endorphin rush...

Thyroid disease is one of the most common health problems we face today. From a practical standpoint, there are many ways to approach this issue. Learn here https://tinyurl.im/aH6r6 Hypothyroidism, or underactive thyroid, is a very common problem, and there are many reasons for this, including drinking chlorinated and fluoridated water, and eating brominated flour. Chlorine, fluoride, and bromine are all in the same family as iodine, and can displace iodine in your thyroid gland. Secondly, many people simply aren't getting enough iodine in their diet to begin with. The amount you get from iodized salt is just barely enough to prevent you from getting a goiter.

The top 2 things that can cause thyroid problems are iodine deficiency and radiation exposure.
There isn't a lot we can do about radiation other than to avoid it, but there's certainly something that can be done about iodine deficiency. Not sure if reversing iodine deficiency is a permanent solution, but it's a good solution.

I have heard that there is a new medicine, it's called Armour. It is the best thing out there, you might want to talk to your doctor about this.
Get some books at the library to help you understand what you are up against for the rest of your life. (You will have this problem permenantly). I have hypo too & I am on levothroid.

f you take medication, you might experience irregularities for 2-3 months as your body adjusts itself. Hormone imbalances can make it difficult to conceive, so you might want to see if you can have your other hormone levels checked. Someone your age shouldn't have a problem though. Many times, irregular periods can be due to stress coupled with a poor diet

It's likely that you're eating too fast. Try holding a conversation while having a meal so you're not really gulping down more than it is advisable to feel full.

Use a dash of cinnamon to offer fruits such as bananas in addition to melons a richer dessert feel without the sugar.
