What genre? I assume bluegrass since mandolin doesn't adapt well to many. If you're into mandolin check out David Grisman. Hes great.
Back to your question, learning would be comparable since they are both stringed instruments. But guitar would be easier to find instructional websites or maybe a local teacher. Also guitar is an appropriate instrument for all genres. You can probably master a few of the basic chords in a matter of weeks. How fast you learn has to do with how many hours of practice you put into it.

I've never tried mandolin, but guitar is quite easy. How fast can you learn? It depends on the teacher and on the learner :)

think of of the mandolin as a guitar became up-section-down, different than the EADG is going extreme to low, no longer low to extreme. In different words, an open G chord is like enjoying the low 4 strings on a left-exceeded guitar. The sound is different of direction, yet this might help somewhat, desire so & good success!

Hmm...it really depends on YOU as a person..
Guitar is pretty easy..but then again, Im a fast learner.
You can learn as fast as you can learn. And I dont think it matters which one is easier to learn....they are both basicly alike.
