Both are symbolic. The 'aras' are coins given as a gift to the bride and bridegroom by a 'padrino or padrina' (sponsor) in hope that their life together will never be without sufficient funds to survive.

The 'lazo' or "lasso" is a... Well, I hate to say it this way, but it is a 'noose' which will bind their life together as one in love, peace and harmony.

Both are lovely traditions and I am glad you are considering incorporating them into your wedding. I wish both of you love, health, prosperity, happiness and long life!
