I've loved all the Harry Potter books, and they get better from book 1 on. However, I love historical fiction--anything by John Jakes. The North and South Trilogy is my favorite.

diane gabaldon - Outlander series...its based on actually history but the main characters are fictional...Outlander is the first one and the main character is Claire. She's a WWII nurse researching the Stonehenge with her husband. But Claire gets thrown back in time to the 1700's...is taken captive by some Scotish raiders...and meets this HOT young, athletic, warrior, Jamie...and the books follow their lives...adventures...and love life..I started reading the books in 1993 and keep reading them every summer...just amazing the research and depth of description that these books get into...

what genre do you like? i can recommend the Xanth series or anything else by Piers Anthony if you like Science Fiction / Fantasy. Dean Koontz and Stephen King are great horror writers. Nora Roberts writing as JD Robb writes some good cop novels the " In Death" series.. Visions in Death was good.. any other suggestions, just hit me up

I love reading Dean Koontz books and my boyfriend likes reading books by David Eddings. I just started reading books by David Eddings and they have a pretty good storyline.

My favorites are "Chicken Soup for the Soul" books. Also, "The Chronicles of Narnia" are awesome. I've heard books by Jane Austen were good, such as "Emma", "Pride and Prejudice" and "Sense and Sensibility".

Just read "Cell" by Stephen King. Good, but not as good as some of his others.
"Dispatches for the Edge" is a good book, by Anderson Cooper

That depends. Are you looking for fiction or non-fiction? When I was younger, I'd dive into sci-fi and fantasy. Lately I prefer stuff that edifies my mind and enriches my perspective. Here are a couple of my favorites...

The Tao Te Ching or The Tao Of Pooh, both easy to get hold of and are very interesting - especially if you are interested in religion/eastern thought. Easy to read but enjoyable and deep :)
