Fish emulsion very good, if smelly. Growers also use a commercial liquid calcium. Don't go overboard, or the fruit may abort and rot. I fed one so much the largest leaves were 33"+ across. But all the fruit aborted. You can force it only so much. Too much nitrogen early on may cause them to take on water faster than their skins can expand, and if so, they will -yep- explode. It happened to me.
Unless you are trying to grow a world record breaker, just side dress with a small amount of basic 5-10-10. You can get 50 pounds for under ten dollars. The rule with fertilizer, except for the rich and stupid, is to buy the cheapest you can find. It's all pretty much the same.
Giant pumpkins start out slow, but soon enough that changes. Weight gains of 30-35 pounds a day are not uncommon.

Use miracle grow.
More mportantly, snip off the trailing end of the vine that is past the pumpkin...it is taking nutrients from the pumpkin!
ALSO make sure to keep the varmit eaters away from the patch. I had three 1/2 dollar sized pumpkin babies eaten last week!
Pumpkins need a lot of water....but don't keep it soggy all of the time!
Good Luck!

Miracle Grow alway works well for me. Sprinkle a little at the vine or buy one of the dispersers that do the mixing for you. Place straw under your pumpkin to prevent rot as it grows. Good luck!

Many folks who grow prize pumpkins actually grow them in milk. Like you use water to start plants. Others just pour milk on the plant like fertilizer only daily and say it works.

every year at halloween we can buy the pumpkins that weigh a 100 pounds or more to get them that big you need to cut off all the pumpkins but one..and put a little bite of shade over it so the heat will not kill it...this blocks the sun that is directly over the pumpkin only..
