most of our parents are straight, and we still turned out gay? I know both my parents are straight as arrows. How about yours?

If you've never had to make the choice, don't use that opinion as fact. I've tried to be straight, and it didn't work. I was born this way.

And no I wouldn't want my kids to be gay. I'd want them to be who they were born to be-gay, straight, bi, or transgendered. As long as they are true to themselves, I would not care.

it's the old puritanical belief of what I like to call Chauvinist Science or Patriarchal Science.. that heredity is the be-all and end-all of every person's existence; that criminal parents pass criminality on to their children, or in this case, that homosexual parents pass homosexuality on to their kids. The old Mendelian laws of inheritance are thus re-written incorrectly to explain- equally incorrectly- profound matters of which we actually know quite little.
sometimes it is true- certain tendencies like religiosity, alcoholism, etc etc have a certain genetic basis, but this can be dangerously overstated...it is like forcing a square peg in a round hole. But the myth of a bad seed still lives on in some circles, although it is quite untrue.
See "The Birdcage" with Robin Williams and Nathan Lane; there is a humorous subplot on how the parents (two gay men) are mildly dismayed at their son's obvious hetereosexuality..."He's getting MARRIED?" LOL.

My parents are straight and I'm bi raising two daughters. Most people have no clue and they're basing their opinions on stereotypes and ignorance. I don't care if my kids are gay or straight, I love them very much until I take my last breath. My former neighbors are a lesbian couple and raised two kids(one's at college and the other's in their last year of high school with an "A-B" average). Some straight folks can't even get their kids to even read a book! Don't let the negative statements get to you. Keep on living, laughing, and loving. The world will eventually get the hint.

teenagers % a mom and a FATHER. it is one among the main important probems in soceity at present. the lasck of a mom and pa at abode to develop teenagers. i'm no longer in basic terms speaking approximately gays right here. i'm speaking approximately ladies having teenagers and not being married or a minimum of in a dating with a guy. It takes 2 people, a male and a female to develop teenagers. there are further and further single discern families then ever previously in this united states and look-- crime is on the upward thrust, teenagers are no longer passing college, optimal drop out expenditures, teenager deaths, teenager being pregnant, suicide, homicide, rape, gangs. it may all be appropriate to single discern properties. gay can no longer precise develop a newborn because of the fact a newborn desires direction from the two a guy and a female to be develop in a healthful inviroment.

my parents are straight and i'm queer. though my dad is sorta bi, but hasn't actually been with men. my half-sister on my dad's side is a lesbian. her son is either straight or gay, we're not sure yet. his dad is also gay; they got married when they thought they were straight. my sister's wife's parents were straight; her brother is gay and her sister is straight.

ahem. yes. either way, being gay has nothing to do with the way one was raised, but just the way one IS. it MIGHT be genetic; but really, if you're born that way, it's to be expected.

Using logic like that to get rid of ignorance is a very good idea.

I think homosexual parents can help their child be more open about themselves, because they're probably open since they're gay parents.

I think parents in general need to let their kids try to accept who they are, not change it or hate them for it.

If they use something like, "But they have no female role models!" That isn't true, because they can have cousins or aunts for their role models of the opposite gender.

I think that if you need the love of a child, and have endless love to give it,
You should be able to raise one, and it has nothing to do with your sexual preference..
Theres soooooo many kids in the world that need a good chance..
I think there is no reason to believe that they would be gay,
I there any evidence?
Good luck, i hope you get an answer that your looking for,.

I just love how all these straight people tell us gay people that it is a choice that we made. How much they show their own ignorance!!
My parents were straight...I was gay.

Because many people are really very ignorant...these same people say nothing about the Gays that come from "straight" homes...where do they think Gays come from??? Interesting line of thought that falls apart very quickly, don't you think?

It's just ignorance. Science is still trying to determine what causes someone's sexual preference to be different from the norm and haven't figured it out yet so some people are fearful in their ignorance.
