You are very right. However you can not change most of the people's false ego. You should not change your way. Your families will understand soon and will be with you. Even if you find very few person supporting you do not deviate.

We need 1000 more of Jesus to be born in earth and 10000 more Harriet Beecher Stoe to write books to streamline the world.

Is this the same dad that raised you to go to church and believe everything that the church tells you? If you are going to date outside your race then you need to learn to think outside your "race" as well. Travel, read new and interesting books, meet and accept people from all different cultures with different beliefs. Then you can form an educated opinion about your life and others lives. Your family sounds very narrow minded and I can tell that you don't want to end up like them.

It is an unfortunate fact of life that previous generations (and even some contemporary ones) are bigoted, closed-minded jerks who still think that living in the 1800's before abolition is OK.
If your father cannot love you for the person you are - regardless of who you associate with - that's his problem, not yours.

You have my utmost sympathy. It's because they're full of prejudice that they hate blacks and see them as an alien species, not as fellow human beings like you do.
I sincerely hope that something good comes out of all this for you and your boyfriend. Best of luck.

Racism sucks. Some people need to learn tolerance of indifference.

It is possible that your family may be pregitous but this may not be the case either.
I am white as are my husband and children.
I personally do not want my children to date black people.
I have friends whom are black and have even opened up my home and shared my food with an interracial family whom had become homeless.
I am not pregitous. I am comfortable with black people in social and personal and business settings.
But as I said before....I will not allow my children to date black people.
It may just be that I am more comfortable in my family life among my own kind.
Don't be so hard on your family.
Remember that it wasn't really that long ago that blacks and whites were completely seperated in any social settings.
Honestly if white people had treated their slaves with more humanity than they would probably still be slaves to us.
The treatment of the black slaves is what the North was up in arms about and what led to them having a civil war with the South.
Also, the black population in general still blame white people for all of their problems and still have more children than they can afford and alot of the time the men don't even stay around to raise the children.
This happens among the white race as well but not on the same level.
When the black people stop living in the past and throwing it up in our faces and forcing our children to learn year after year about black history month than maybe the white people can start seeing them as hard-working equals.
If you ever have a chance to go by and see a foodstamp line or other D.C.F. or H.R.S. type funding program...
just look at the people there.
You may see as many whites as blacks; but notice the difference in the cars they drive, the name brand clothes they wear and the gold jewelry they are donning.
But meanwhile they are having 4 or more children and on welfare and dressing this way and driving nice vehicles and the children usually don't have the same fathers.
Actually, when they give me an attitude like I owe them something this angers me more than anything else does....I tell them flat out that I never owned one.
Furthermore...I am Cherokee, Native American Indian so my people were treated as badly as theirs and I don't go around thinking that anyone owes me anything....
Europeans invaded my country and enslaved, raped and murders my people..
Their King sold them into slavery and their country, Africa is still doing this and/or allowing it to continue (we couldn't have bought them if they were not for sell), now you don't see these same people whom feel that they were so wronged over there trying to save their relatives from the same fate or worse than their ancestors faced here in America.
Now do you have a better idea of why your family can't stand the idea of you being with a black man?
Also...just look at the manner in which you wrote out your words in your question.
White people DO NOT write, nor talk this way.
Do you see the influence of what being around black people has already done to you?(Or at least the type of black people that you are around).
If you are going to choose to date black people than don't take on their street slang.
Stand out as a nice, attractive young lady; dress nicely, speak properly and carry yourself with respect.
You will find that if you date a black man with these quailities and you yourself take on these quailities than the public will easily accept you as an interracial couple and won't even notice the difference of color.
Your family may never accept your dating black men. You may never be attracted to white men.
But your family may come around more easily if you invoke these changes in you life and in the men that you date.
Good Luck!
P.S. You only get respect 3 ways.
One: You are born with it (rich)...this may not be proper respect if you have a nasty disposition...but never-the-less their is an amount of respect that rich people are afforded)
Second: You earn it. This is the best way to gain & get respect because it is respect because of your good work and good heart.
Third: You demand it. This means that you dress appropriatly...You carry yourself properly, You don't go around cussing and behaving ignorarantyly.
This DOES NOT mean that you go around with an attitude and behaving as though everyone has wronged you and everyone owes you something.
I'll give you a challange...dress nicely and go out into public and be nice, smile and make eye contact with other customers in stores and see the response.
Then go out another time dressed as a teenage black person and behave & speak like they do...your eyes will be opened really quickly as to the difference in the response that you get from the public.
There are ALOT of really good black men and woman whom having broken away from the prior train of thought and are very hard working and respectable.
This is the kind of man that you need no matter what the race is.
But keep in mind that you do not deserve nor will you find a good man like this if you continue to speak/write the way that you do. A good man will never be interested in you if you go around talking trash and behaving like trash.
I'm not trying to be mean...I'm trying to help you.
I have an 18 yr. old son and a 17 yr. old daughter.
This is how I have raised them.

They probably think that you both need to spend more time dedicated to your education before you date anyone.
