Dont you think we should stop giving away all of the hard earned tax dollers to other countries??I agree that we should help other because we have so much, but there are things that need to be done HERE first. We need better schools, hospitals, and more libraries. We need to help feed and clothe the homless, we need more low-cost housing, but nothing EVER seems to get done because we continue to spend all the money! Also, maybe if all those rich co.ck-suckers would pay a little more taxes and quit buying god damn mansions and building ******** golf courses we could afford more!!Is the reason because we are hated so much that we have to give them money just so they dont get together and take us out?Is bush more concerned with winning a popularity contest then with the well-being of his own people??Anybody got an answer?
I apologize if i offended anyone but i just needed to get that out there.

Sure - if you have no social conscience and believe in the Thatcherite quote "there is no society". There are problems at home because the government is utterly inept, you can have taxes at 90% and you'd STILL not have enough money, cause they'd just waste it all. So why not help out the countries which don't have paper for their schools before you help a country which has more than they could ever dream about?

That's a very good question, why DO we hand out so much money every year, is it payola?

I'm a firm believer that we could be energy-independent, economically independent, that was basically part of our origins, no reason we can't have a repeat, I think SOME structured foreign aid is a good idea, but only after careful consideration and proven results as requirement for continuance. Absent such proof, no free money from america....but, Congress throws it around like it's play-money, meanwhile there's homeless on america's streets...go figure...

You can't be serious. You can't think for 1 second that Bush is popular outside of America.

I totally agree. l feel like my taxes I pay as well as millions of people go directly to countries like Iraq and Afghanistan. Why can't Congress and the President use those billions to help better our own people? And I don't mean the rich ones!

Because despite what everyone else says, we Americans are really nice guys. The reason we don't focus more on our own people is because of the stance our country was founded on: The belief that people can stand on their own two feet and live their lives WITHOUT the government having to take care of them.

I think the US should spend its money at home, yes.

Especially since the Constitution only authorized Congress to spend for the welfare and defense of the United States, not other countries.

you do realise the u.s gives a tiny proportion of it's taxes to aid overseas, smaller than most other countries. i think any privileged country should give money, yes we have problems but at least the majority of people in the U.K and U.S have food, shelter and water. yes not all and more should be done to help those who are disadvantaged in our own countries aswell, but we shouldn't take this out of aid money we should take it out of the paychecks of our politicians, or the free holidays they get etc.
