That would depend on what you're studying. For example, a law student would want to attend a school with a good law program, such as UMKC or Fordham University. If you're talking about schools that you can't go wrong with attending, no matter what program you're studying, some examples would be Harvard, Yale, Cornell, Tokyo University, etc.

Asking a question like this is like asking what the best food in the world is. It's a matter of taste and need.

Does the college suit your personal taste and needs better than any other? If it does, that's the best one for you.

U.S. News and World Report, a magazine, recently put Princeton, Harvard, and Yale numbers 1, 2, and 3 for overall best college. All three schools belong to the Ivy League. Of the top ten, five were Ivy League schools (Penn and Dartmouth were the other two).

Chances of getting a high paying, challenging position after college, are higher in the highly rated schools than in the lower ones. Not to say you can't get big bucks and great work from the lower rated schools, you can; but chances are greater of landing that ideal position from the better schools.

Well, if you want to study Islamic history and theology you should probably go to the oldest university in the world in Egypt, the al Azhar.

But then you might not be interested in memorizing the Koran.

You really need to say what you want to study, what are your talents, and how much money you have. That is what determines which is the best college for you.
