Well, you can give it more food.... if its with other fish its probably not getting a chance to eat as much cuz the other fish are getting faster to the food... so you can always get a plastic container and only put that fish their and give it food.... when your done just put him back in his tank with the other fishes! but be careful don't let him slip out of your hands!!! (:

Betta fish were once a fighter, now just easy to care for. They still however have not FULLY bred the aggression out of their race. IF o want him to get bigger, 1 put him in a tank big enough to swim in (TOO MANY PEOPLE EXPECT THE POOR LITTLE FELLAS TO LIVE IN A ****ING CUP OF WATER) So he can actually use his muscles. 2 Put a mirror behind his tank for a day or two each week. He will flair up thinking there is another male trying to get into his territory THIS WILL MAKE HIM TRY TO BECOME LARGER AND MORE DOMINANT THAN HIS REFLECTION!!!!!!!!!!. 3 Don't feed him crappy cheap fish flake. - SPEND ANOTHER $2 a week and give him frozen brine shrimp and CHICLID food as it is full of protein. A FISH IS JUST LIKE A HUMAN. Could a person develop good muscle tone and strength sitting in a cardboard box and eating plain bread. Hope this helps. P.S - HOPE ALL YOU OTHER BETTA OWNERS ARE PAYING ATTENTION - STOP `KEEPING THESE LITTLE FELLAS IN A GLASS OF WATER.

He could just be young. Most male betta sold in stores ar nearly a year old. If he is 6 months old he'll be smaller, and shorter fined. Also females tend to be smaller, anf shorter fined. Lastly some betta due to genetics, or poor care early in life are just smaller.
PS- Bettas should be a bit slim. Most people's bettas are over fed and bloated. See bettatalk for a lot of great advice on bettas.

Some fish, like people are larger than others, if the fish is healthy, don't worry about it.
