i started using acnefree last september and within a month i was ...well.. acne free. i stoped using it in december 2005 and havent had a problem since..
one word of advise though, keep your hands off your face unless you just washed them. your hands are covered in dirt and oil and your face will suck the oils off your hands like a vaccum.

I am currently using AcneFree, but I have never tried Proactiv. If you have sensitive skin don't use AcneFree. The only sensitive part of my face is my chin and it's a little red and irritated. The rest of my acne has cleared right up though. I am going to keep using it to see if my chin adjusts and if not then I am going to try Proactiv.

AcneFree is pretty comparable to Proactiv--although it has different levels of the active ingredient Benzoyl Peroxide.
However, it works well, and is significantly cheaper, so I think it's a much better option than Proactiv.

It's not as good as Proactiv. I've used it.
Acnefree tends to make my skin oily and break out more easily. Definetly use proactiv!

I'm not here to SELL a PRODUCT but I have to tell you that when I used ACUTANE(prescription) it worked "expertly" within a year(less even) I was clear pretty much for good with an occasional zit here and there. Now that was before I woke up to be VEGAN, and before I examined other possible reasons as to why I was having "acne" perhaps it was the animal products or some weird chemicals in my lucky charms reacting with my chemical genetics.... and I do not know if the company who makes ACUTANE experimented on animals(I mean besides me and the "doctor" as we as humans are animals right?) And I do not know if the product acutane contains animal products or not, I can only tell you that back when I had fairly BAD acne it seemed that ACUTANE took care of it swiftly along with careful doctor "pricking"...and so as to say.....all those "over the counter" things like all those PADS(oxy) and CREAMS and such did NOT at all seem to work for me.... but as I said I was amazed at how well ACUTANE appeared to work.

the active ingredient in proactiv is benzoyl peroxide. then there is a "toner" that contains witch hazel. you can get these @ a drugstore for under 5 dollars.

It might not work as fast as Proactiv, but it might work very well like proactiv.
