I'm assuming you mean 4weeks and 2 days? I would try to tough it out for the next two weeks. Maybe you have a different pair of the same type that you could switch to? Just make sure to keep them clean. Even after the six weeks, try and wear them as often as you can for a while, so they don't grow over.
just saw your add on- I'd switch them,(I wouldn't do it too much yet and make sure you sterilize the new ones really well) just make sure they are the same type of "sticks" on them. The ones with the wire type backs are much thinner and your ears could grow over them(at least that's what I was told) Your best bet is to call any store that does piercings, they'll know for sure.

Wait at least the full 6 weeks, it is true that you can develop an infection if you change them earlier, that has obviously happened to many of us who did what you want to do. Just keep cleaning them and don't think about what you want to put in right now but think about a long future of wearing cool earrings instead of having to let the holes grow closed because of infection. I got my original holes for my first holy communion and my mom took care of them (because I was 7) and they are still great today, 34 years later. But the ones I got in when I was 21 and I took out the starters too early, they were always infected and I had to let them grow closed.

Messing with a new piercing is a great way to get an infection, cause the piercing to grow over, or get torn or stretched out. Leave it alone, continue to clean it properly, and be patient. It is worth the wait. Be glad it's just earlobes, other areas for piercing can take months to heal properly, and take extra care. Treat new piercings with serious respect, or you will end up regretting it.

yeah it is way too early to take them out. just like the person above me, i took mine out too early. i got a horrible infection and had to let the holes close up. i know the temptation to put in awesome earrings is great, but do yourself a favor and wait a little while. if the hole is red and crusty still do not take them out. make sure you wash them every day with solution and take good care of them. if you do that you should have no problem taking them out in a week or two

It is too early to take them out. I think you should wait for the next two weeks. I think if you don't wait, they'll close up or you'll get keloids on the back of your ears: Look into it on this link I've provided, so here it is. I don't mean to gross you out but this is a way this can happen.

oh okay, i thought u were crazy when u said u wanted to take them off and only had them on for four days.. but four weeks, i think it should be okay, and well it doesn't really matter since you are putting another pair of earrings in it again, the only worry would be if you took them off and didnt put anything back in. Just try to have earrings made of pure gold for the first couple of months, dont get any of that cheap silver stuff cuz they could infect your ear.

Do not take them out now. When i got my ears pierced i took them out too early and got a nasty infection. It took months to heal!
Leave them in for the 6 weeks...trust me.
good luck!

too early. When I pierce ears, I say leave them in for 8 wks. they heal better with less chance of closing.

you can take them out, as long as your immediatly putting another pair in. They will not close this quickly, but be sure to wash your hands FIRST and also the new jewelry to be put in. clean your ears before removing the original jewelry-use a q-tip to be sure any crusty matter is removed-and quickly as possible insert the new posts.
