Ally H is a silly timewaster. A car boot sale is where people sell second hand goods out of the boot - or trunks, if you're American - cars. It's a lot like a jumble sale or flea market, though I heard of one in N Ireland sometimes raided by police as people were selling illegal goods. They are often held on weekends and there was a TV show 'Car Boot Sale Challenge' where contestants tried to find the best bargains at one. The link below has a list of the regular car boot sales in London.

A car boot sale is an outdoor sale at which people sell things from the trunk of their cars. Car boot sales can be a great place to big up bargains, but always be careful to avoid impulse buying, and to be wary of fake, or counterfeit, goods. Most boot sales are help in famrs fields on weekends, and are often sign posted around towns.

You get things you want to sell and put them in your car....then you go to a field and unload the stuff onto a table so people can see it....and you sell your stuff to make money....

It got the name car boot sale because people used to use the boot of there car to put the things they were selling in, and so when you when round you used to look in the boot of people cars to see what they were selling.

The organisers charge people to take their cars onto the site (usually a field) and sell unwanted items from their car boot (trunk in American) - you can usually put a small table up too (like a wallpapering table for example). Others also pay to enter the site and hopefully buy from you.

It's a great oppurtunity to make some money out of what you think might be junk or useless to yourself. Have a look in the garage/loft, take the car and set up a pitch with anything you can use as a table. You'll be amazed!
