They were on Buffalo Spdwy or Kirby Drive. If anyone knows who the people were who owned it, let me know. Even if you worked their and know how to make it. They could not keep up with the demand for it. People would buy it by the pint or quart, it was that good!!!

I remember the queso being good but the food was "so-so" and was having a hard time attracting new customers. I believe they are owned by Mexican Restaurants, Inc. (the same company that just bought out Mission Burrito). They now have Monterey Little Mexico and Monterey's Tex Mex (most likely a reinvented version of Monterey House) so you might want to start with those restaurants to see if they serve the same chili con queso. You can check all their restaurants and their locations on their corporate web site below.

They changed the name to Monterrey's Tex-Mex many years ago and the food just awful. Try Gringo's or Tortuga's. They both have great queso.

Never ordered "hairy taco" at a restaurant before. But I've ate many "fish tacos" at Rubio's back in Cali.

I've always wanted to know the same thing. It just seems like they disappeared one day. I make Chil Con Queso, but I doubt it is like theirs. I use velvetta cheese and Rotel.

It became Monterrey's Tex Mex about 20 years ago. And it's not as good.
