Thats "President" Bush to you! Dont be disrespectful!
Americans need to be reminded of that day, because there are so many that go around living in LA-LA land, taking their Freedom for granted, and YES, exactly what you said, they DO NOT understand the real threat. And then when precautions are taken for everyones safety, they all complain. This Country has been way to nice up through the years, and now its time we stop letting people come here whenever they feel like it.
So, NO, he's not a cynical, nor is he chicken little, he's the President of our United States, who has this Countrys best interest at heart.........period!

You can see most of these armchair warriors have no idea what they care talking about when they say "we can't let just anybody into this country" when it's Bush himself who supports massive illegal immigration. Also I'd bet my house that none of these tough talkers ever did ANYTHING for this war effort beyond yellow stickers and watching Fox News. None of them could find Iraq or Saudi Arabia on a map and are too stupid and ignorant to care.
The War on Terror is like the War on Drugs. It never ends lots of people make too much money on both sides for progress to be made. Of course Bush is exploiting 9/11. What else does he have to campaign on?

He is exploiting it. He used it to go into Iraq, he used it to wiretap, and he used it to make money in Iraq. It there a threat, yes. There is also a threat that when you leave your home tomorrow, you will get hit by a car, get into a car accident, hell, even stepping in a ditch, breaking your neck and dying.
Look, we as a nation understand that terrorism exist and understand the need to get rid of terrorism. However, he should have gone after THE PEOPLE RESPONSIBLE for 9/11. There is no evidence whatsoever that Saddam was responsible for 9/11, or that he was harboring terrorist organizations. Where in the hell is bin Laden?

I think he's trying to make the point that many Americans just don't get it. I mean, every American fears another attack on our country, yet do not realize that to prevent that, things are going to have to change. We are going to have to tighten up our borders, and ports. We can't just allow anyone to come into the US without knowing who they are. Is that racism, or a violation of rights? No, it's just one safeguard to prevent terrorism. People are angry about wiretapping, but if you have nothing to hide, then why stress out? Of course it's an invasion of privacy, but it's also an extremely powerful way to monitor suspected terrorist activities. So I think that's what Bush means by his statements. We aren't going to wipe out terrorism without making personal sacrifices and changing our way of thinking.

They are the Illuminatis, and they own you,
This is the New World Order, and it is your future if the world don't wake up :
And this is what Bush’s minions had to say in 2000;-
"Further, the process of transformation, even if it brings revolutionary change, is likely to be a long one, absent some catastrophic and catalyzing event – like a new Pearl Harbor"
Project for the New American Century (2000)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Project_for_the_New_American_Century
“Naturally the common people don't want war; neither in Russia, nor in England, nor in America, nor in Germany. That is understood. But after all, it is the leaders of the country who determine policy, and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy, or a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is to tell them they are being attacked, and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same in any country.”
Hermann Göring(Nazi) 1946 Confessions (Nuremberg Diary)
http://www.snopes2.com/quotes/goering.htm
"We are on the verge of a global transformation. All we need is the right major crisis and the nations will accept the New World Order."
David Rockefeller: Statement to the United Nations Business Council in September 1994
"For more than a century, ideological extremists at either end of the political spectrum have seized upon well-publicized incidents to attack the Rockefeller family for the inordinate influence they claim we wield over American political and economic institutions. Some even believe we are part of a secret cabal working against the best interests of the United States, characterizing my family and me as 'internationalists' and of conspiring with other around the world to build a more integrated global political and economic structure - one world, if you will. If that is the charge, I stand guilty, and I am proud of it." David Rockefellers memoirs (2002)
Make you investigations about Jesuits, the New World Order, the Illuminatis, the Free-Masonery, the Death Clan. They plan a world reduction of population of 80%...Far worse than Hitler...
1. Monetary and sex bribery was to be used to obtain control of men already in high places in the various levels of all governments and other fields of endeavor. Once influential persons had fallen for the lies, deceits, and temptations of the Illuminati, they were to be held in bondage by application of political and other forms of blackmail, threats of financial ruin, public exposure, and physical harm, even death to themselves and loved members of their families.
2. The Illuminati who were on the faculty of colleges and universities were to cultivate students possessing exceptional mental ability and who belonged to well-bred families with international leanings, and recommend them for special training in Internationalism. Such training was to be provided by granting scholarships, like the Rhodes Scholarship, to those selected by the Illuminati. All such scholars were to be first persuaded and then convinced that men of special talent and brains had the right to rule those less gifted on the grounds that the masses do not know what is best for them physically, mentally, and spiritually.

That's the silliest question I've ever heard. This is the most threatening war the US has ever been in, bar none. What possible political gain could someone who can't run again possible achieve? Bush is going about ,amy things, including Iraq, in the wrong way, but it is obvious that he is right about the threat from the Islamists.

Absolutely he is. When is rating get to a low a Red ( terror warning) goes up. his ratings do the same. Terrorism has proved to be a very profitable and strong political vehicle for the bush administration
Actually at first , to al jazeera, Osama said he had nothing to do with it.
It wasnt until our troops somehow found a video on a table in some house in the middle of nowhere iraq with a "confession" on it always so conveniant to miraculously find a confeesion tape right when it is needed.
of course he is exploiting it

Have you read the news lately? What about the story where the Brits stopped those terrorists from blowing up the planes?
Clearly the threat is real. Bush is less concerned with daily polls than he is in doing his job and thank goodness for that.
Blair and Bush would have poll numbers in the high 80's if they had allowed the planes to blow up instead of preventing them. But as they are not traitors and as they take their oaths of office seriously they did not allow it to happen.

I really believe that he is exploiting it for all it's worth - for political gain. When there are 'terrorists' convicted in London of plotting to blow up airliners I will start to be less cynical. At the moment it all seems to be smoke an mirrors rather like the non-existent Weapons of Mass Destruction which we were going to find in Iraq. Meanwhile our troops are being sacrificed in Iraq. Hail to the Chief - but Chief what?
