The tendons in perching birds legs and feet are set up so that when they relax, the toes tighten down. So when a perching bird sits on a branch, its toes automatically tighten and grip the branch.
They have to flex their toes to let go.

Some birds have nests. Otherwise, their tiny feet have a very good grip, which they use to grip the branches on the trees, therefore staying upright while they rest.

who says they don't n just while there mid air they wake up n go straight back to the place they just fell from some animals don't make sense half the time they walk around on the floor y not sleep there n just bury themselves in leaves so they don't get eaten

They do, but we don't notice because we're all sleeping. Try getting up in the middle of the night, they're all over the ground.
