All the time, especially when someone salutes the flag, flies a flag, says a prayer, thanks God for their freedoms, serves their country to keep us free, puts a hand over their hearts when the National Anthem is played...it's everywhere, just open your eyes. The south is part of this Union, so the Confederate pride is just a hold-over from those who would rather have slaves than work for a day's pay.

Northern pride is more regional than overall southern pride (i.e., New England, the Midwest, etc.). Yet, the in every cemetery that holds a Memorial Day service every year in the North the pride comes out when Lincoln's Gettysburg Address is recited. Lincoln knew that if the south was successful in breaking away, the dream of united new world power standing up to Europe was lost. Nothing would have made most European powers happier than to see the Union dissolved, especially Prussia, the driving force behind a united Germany. Frederick the Great of Prussia once said that allowing the American Union to stand was one of Europe's biggest mistakes. Without any major new world power to stand up against Germany in the First World War, German armies would have overun Europe and then set their eyes on the Americas. Lincoln not only saved the Union. He saved the future of Europe from Germany.

No you don't. i was raised in the north. I currently live here in the south. they have to have something to hold on to. it's crazy down here with all of the confederate bul***** going on. I feel of you want your flag to rise again then do something about it. Instead they just sit around complaining and waiting for something to happen. You must help yourself. The taxpayers spent alot of money on the dispute of the confederate flag over the state house a few years back. What a waste of money. the South has one of the lowest educations going. We must educate our children so they grow up and be independent and responsible adults.
Sorry i rambled but you did touch a touchy subject.
Thanks for letting me vent.

That's because they are ashamed of what they did. I bet they wish they had it to do all over again. It didn't have anything to do with slavery. Read the book: The South Was Right.
