I think you'll need to start to develop a way you can get free electricity.
You might want a wind powered dynamo or a solar cell.
However you'll want to have several
Or you can try a bicycle generator and make your own electricity.
Then you'll need to electrolyse water.
Then you'll need to work out how to store it for free. I don't think you'll be able to do that.
Perhaps if you sell some of your electricity you could manage it.

Note, also, it's also very hard to store (in pure H2 form) I believe it could easily leak out of most air tanks because the molecules are so much smaller than that of N2 or O2) and standard rubber seals would not work as I've heard that the seals are porous enough H2 actually seeps through. IIRC that's one reason the space shuttle has to be refueled if a launch is delayed, it still leaks out.

if you find a method that does ANYTHING of value for free (and hydrogen is valuable), then sell it. You'll make BIG MONEY with that.

hydrogen is a very unsafe gas. you do not need to be doing this in your basement. all it takes is like the friction of snapping your fingers to ignite H2... BE CAREFUL!
