As a Sir Lankan I think I should know how people discribe our nation. I want to find out that if they know the truth.

The only thing I know is cricket and smart people but it is not really a safe country to live in especially with a war that might occur anytime soon. The people are nice and helpful though, I think the war is because of cultural differences only nothing else. I also heard that they have good temples to worship there.

Ive never been altho I would like to go. I've heard that the ruins of Anuradhapura are amazing, and I would love to sit beneath the sacred Bo-Tree. Other than that sadly the nation is most known for it's protracted low level war that has been grinding on for years between the government and the Tamil Tigers. I hope that yer nation finds peace soon.

Unfortunately, I would have to say war...and the Tamil (sp) rebels...
I am sure that there is much more to Sri Lanka than that...but that's the first thing that came to my mind.
