What makes women fall in love with prisoners?

Scott Petersen gets mail from all sorts of women who think they are in love with him. What is the matter with these women?

I have no idea and I just can't entertain that thought. Maybe because it's some sick way of controlling the situation like the man can only get visits if the woman shows up to visit, money in his commissary if she puts it in there, he can't cheat on her with another woman, she always knows where he is, and that to me is a needy woman who has control issues.

A lot of reasons a simple answer would be they are desperate for a man but that idea is easily refuted as there are more single available men then there are single available women. If a woman wanted she could have a boyfriend in a matter of hours by signing up for a on line dating site kicking over her cash and sit back and wait the email will pile up quickly . There are more men on online sites than women so she has it easy just choose a few and chat .so wanting a inmate is hard to comprehend.

One answers is they can have a "relationship " with a man with out ever having any contact it is at first glance safe. That is until the inmate is let out .
They can have a semblance of emotional intimacy with some one they know they cannot have and real interactions at al with. Out side of a phone visit separates by thick Plexiglas in most prisons now . Very few allow physical contact except for meeting with a attorney or in some sate a child

Another is the Bad boy theory. Women like tough macho men. If you look closely at what type of inmate is sought they are the violent offender not the pothead. These guys are indeed the ultimate bad guys tough and macho to the extreme.
Women see that as a sign of being able to defend her and her children.
It is a part of our hardwiring left over from not otlong ago less than a century . if one thinks of it . Evoltion takes a more than one generation in humans at minimum a 3 –4 at least that is one figure . .
Simply put who is going to mess with a killer?
Even cops call for tons of back up to serve a warrant on a violent offender. Hence the ultimate in masculine men. Every one is intimidated by them, and being a protector is a trait woman desire in men. Few woman date the typical 120 lb. weakling
Alo the majority of these own do have there own problems, mental health problems, low self esteem poverty. ect . In the inner city going to prison is part of life being a tough an who is a violent offender makes him some one to be feared in that subculture . Even the law enforcement folks fear them as they know the real violent offender will not think twice about doing anything , to evade them and capture . .



But the best way to find outbis ask tehem I ma sure there are studioes of this in many big universities and you can rwead interviews wth women who have relationships with inmates and seek them out very revaluing and part of where I got this .
Do a Google search. Using the term's women + relationships with offenders + academic studies you might have to pat 10 bucks or so but the info is shocking

If only the men writing to the female inmates could somehow find the women writing to the male inmates and get to know each other better, the world might be a happier place. I have no reason to doubt the sincerity of this man. Just because he is incarcerated is no guarantee that he is pulling a con or a scam, especially after 9 years of writing you. He is truly in a position where he is helpless to get his artwork back. That doesn't mean you should pay for it. Just tell him it's not your problem. Art is art. That doesn't mean you have to part ways. Is he going to get mad at you when she is the one holding his art hostage? If you want to buy the art to have the art, that's one thing. But if he is asking, begging, pleading for you to get back his art, then I feel for him in his helpless situation, but if it's not valuable to you, you don't have to buy it. How could you be sure that she would send it all to you and not just try to take your money? She might be the scammer. I'm certain his art means a lot to him and has sentimental value, but I doubt he is going to stop talking to you if you refuse to help him. Just tell him "sorry about your luck, but I'm not the one that took your art". People who love each other get mad at each other when they have unrealistic expectations. One of the biggest things couple's fight about is money issues. It's unrealistic to expect you to pay off the woman holding his art. He will get over it when he realizes he is wrong. Just be sure to let him know that it's not as if you don't trust him, but you just really don't care to encourage her to take advantage of inmates like that. If she gets money this time, what will stop her from doing this to someone else?

They are sick, it's woman that want a long distance relationship, been in prison makes them out of reach(Platonic relationship) so the fear of having to commit is removed from them, by the way it's not just woman but men to.!!!

ALL women have a need to feel needed. no one is lonelier than a prisoner... no women around at all... it fulfills that need I guess. the only reason I can relate is becuase my husband is in iraq, and it helps me to know that thinking of coming home to me is keeping him strong through his troubles over there...

That is what I always wondered about... I used to think that those who do this have self-confidence so low, they are not able to start an active relationship
