I am a IT proffesional and have done this countless times before although this is the first time I have had a prob. it may be a security issue. If you have any pointers I sure do want to hear them. Thank You all in advance.

Are you getting the SSID from the router? Are you having problems with your card? Get the latest drivers. I had an issue like that. Once I got the Windows Update Drivers, it worked. Are you getting an IP address from the router. While checking the "ipconfig" are you seeing an address of 168.254.x.x (x stands for numbers). If so, you are not getting an IP address from the router. Check your laptop settings to see if you are set to obtain an address automatically. Try setting a manual address on the laptop and see if it connects. If not you may be having a card issue.
