Wisteria blooms on last years growth. Keep lower "whips" trimmed off. Keep "hands" -- short twigs with five leaflets -- they will bloom next year. In my area they bloom in March before leafing out. There is often later minor bloom in summer but not visible because of foliage.

Keep the long tendrils off the ground--use a trellis or something to keep it off the ground--but it sometimes takes a young wisteria a couple of years to bloom.

It take over 5 years to get them to bloom. You didn't say what part of the country you live in.that would help. If it's older vine, prune it hard.

do not trim in the fall as this is when the buds form and you will cut them off. the plant will bloom when it matures in about 2 years
