My friend has to install from his home computer an antivirus on three hundred computers at his workplace. Is this complicated?

if he's undertaking this task, chance are he's just going to dial in through a VPN and then it's likely that he's using symantec or some big name like that. those fancy ones have remote deployment capabilities. he won't even have to write a script. he just clicks a button that basically says "scan the network and install this on all the pc's at once". it's that simple.

hopefully he puts the installation file on a server local to the pc's and doesn't try installing off his home pc. your ISP will love that :)

Yes and no. Just will take some remote access or secured tunneling from home and some scripting within the domain(s) he's working on. Shouldn't be complicated for him unless it's his first time doing it.

Does he have enough licenses?

Does he have remote access to each of the 300 systems?

If the answer to both is yes, then the job will be a piece of cake.
