Which song do you know which has the most beautiful and/or evocative lyrics? Preferably not love songs, unless they're REALLY special, like Leonard Cohen's "Halleluja".

My god, the garbage some of you are choosing. "You're Beautiful" by James Blunt?? "Superman" by Brown Boy?? Have you ever heard a real song in your life if you perceive these ham-fisted cookie-cutter hackjobs to be "the most beautiful"... gee whillickers.

Nightswimming by REM gets my vote, it's not just lyrically beautiful but it's also perfectly complete and self-contained.
Hallelujah which you already mentioned is a close second, but musically I prefer the Buckley cover. Exit music or Lucky, both by Radiohead, get a nod too.
It's always hard to look at lyrics without the music - some of the best song lyrics don't read well by themselves, because what makes them so special is how well the cadence and tone integrates with the music.
