I have several jobs that I enjoy. Year round I work for a company that does home health care for elderly and disabled persons. I love the fact that I am making a difference in their lives and helping them to remain independent and in their own homes. I learn a lot from them--I listen to their stories of how things were when they were younger and take their advise too. They haven't steered me wrong yet! I also raise and sell fresh water tropical fish all year. This started as a hobby, but when I had too many fish to keep I started selling them. It's just something that I enjoy. I also work as the sole operator of the local information channel of the cable television provider in my town. This I've been doing for 11 years. I got the job when I called to see how to put an ad on, they needed someone to take over the job and I said why not. I also work every spring for the local soil conservation district planting trees. I started as just another body with a shovel--now I'm the crew leader and there's only 1 person above me. I love it! Serious stress relief!
If you are looking for work and not having any luck from the news papers or online, try the local employment office, check those notice boards that are at the grocery stores, community centers and court houses--I have seen some of the best paying most rewarding jobs there! Talk to people who already work in the fields you'd most like to work in--they may know of openings. Apply everywhere--even if they aren't advertising for help--you never know when they may be! If they have your application and/or resume on file, they may just skip advertising and just call you!
Good luck!

I have worked retail management for large national companies for 9 years.
Last January, my doctor said I couldn't work in retail anymore.
So, I found a job which is still high paying, but in an office. It isn't as fun as working the places I used to, but I get a kick out of it.
My kids are there all day in another area, so I can see them if i want.
How did I find out about this place? I just walked my tail inside and said what you got? And they put me to work. They weren't about to let someone with my work ethic walk out the door. I did have to work my way up the ladder for a few weeks or so. But I am now the highest paid employee there, just under the CEO.

Monster , Yahoo Hotjobs, Careerbuilder are some of the largest job boards, where you can apply for jobs and upload your resume. Since Craigslist, allows free job postings, many smaller companies post their vacancies on this online classifieds website. You can also search for jobs from multiple websites using aggregators like SimplyHired and Indeed. Referrals are also becoming a increasingly popular way to get hired.

I got my job by working for my employer as a temp. Temp jobs gives everyone a chance to see if the person will be a good fit and will give the applicant a chance to try out the job. If the job doesn't work out, it doesn't look bad on your resume like it would if you had actually been hired and trained and then left.
