Sometimes companies are too cheap to buy them, until something happens and then OSHA gets involved. Other times, and I have personally heard this, "If the glasses come with side shields that I can't take off, I'm not gonna wear them".
All it takes is to see an eye that has been lacerated, globe crushed, corneal abrasion or to feel the pain after an accident, then they may get a clue.

Well, the subconscious thrillseeking aspect aside, maybe because the safety glasses make it harder to see? Ironic, yes.
But think about it... In areas where there's a danger of eye loss, the danger might not just be limited to eyes. SOME people might feel more at risk with reduced peripheral vision due to a pair of goggles. They won't see the flying object coming at them from the side, can't react as quickly and wind up losing their entire head? Idunno... It's like running backs in the NFL who don't wear hip pads beacuse they feel it makes them slower and more likely to take a big hit. They would rather try to avoid the injury than be better protected against it.

No matter how good, safety glasses distort vision slightly. They are also uncomfortable over time, can be awkard in tight situations and can be easily misplaced. But the biggest reason why I sometimes want to skip wearing safety glasses is that they fog up and block my vision under certain circumstances, especially when I'm hot and sweaty.

I think that these people think they are invincible...They have no idea that wearing safety glasses could keep them out of harms way, even though they are told again and again to wear them...
how I know this? My husband is one of them people! Pure idiotic...

Good point. Safety first but some people don't practice it. It won't hurt and it's for your safety.
