Should a doctor know more about your body than you?

Sort of depends on how much you know about your body, doesn't it?

Usually patients who have chronic illnesses which flare up and trouble them again and again know quite a lot about their illness.

Particularly because they can research and have the luxury of time and the focus of containing their research and study to one illness. Your doctor has had to learn about a whole range of illnesses and he knows enough about a lot of illnesses to help many people.

For instance, some of my asthmatic patients know a fair bit about asthma (after all, I try to educate them about it). However, they will know before I do if walking in a certain field near their home will trigger it, or if the council spraying a certain pesticide will trigger it etc. etc. etc.

A doctor knows more about the Human body than you...that's why he studied all those 10 years...

About your body...as said before....surely he knows more than you...because he understand it...you don't, I mean as well as he does

but that's the only way he could treat you as a patient..otherwise nobody will visit a the doctor

A doctor should know how to treat a body better than you, providing you tell him exactly what wrong with your body.

Your doctor should know more about the cause and effect biology of your body than you, but you should know the feel and touch of your body more than anyone.

So, you should be able to detect any changes, know what to eat and not eat, how to move, bend, etc...

Your doctor should be able to correctly diagnose and treat those changes, provide advice or medications to make you more comfortable, and know the correct course of action to take fopr specific ailments.
