I'm assuming that because it is your first dance, that you are 12-13 years old. That was when my first dance was anyways. At my school, the dances were lame anyways. The "cool" thing was to NOT go to the dance. I think you shouldn't worry about it. If it is something that means a lot to you and you want to be with your friends, tell them so. Tell them that it is the first dance, therefore, it is a once in a lifetime chance. You can't do that over. Ask them to not make you miss out on this chance.

Depending on how old you are. If you are under 16 then I understand if they are being more protective. If you are over 16, then you can have a serious talk with them and tell them that you will come home early, etc. Other than your age, maybe they are concerned about where it will be, who will be there, if there will be drugs and alcohol, etc. If it is a nice clean party that will start early and end early, you can tell them to drop you off and pick you up, and even offer to take your or their celphone to keep in contact. By doing this and actually using that celphone to let them know how you're doing and where you are, you will build trust, and they might let you go out more often next time. If they don't let you go, it's most likely for your protection, they love you and they don't want anything happening to you.

Try talking to your parents about and why they wont let you go. Try to come up with ideas that might point out there good things why you should go. If that doesnt work tell your parents you want to spend the night at a friends house and say that she isnt going to the dance either. If they ask why she wants you 2 spend tha night then juz say dat she didnt want 2 b bored all day.

I would sit down with them and ask them why you can't go. If they are set and stone, do not complain and keep bugging them to let you go. If you have done something to get yourself into trouble, and you are grounded and can't go, tell them you are sorry and will make up for it. For example, if you talked back to them, promise never to do it again, but you must mean it and follow through with it! Remember, your parents are looking out for you and are going to do what is best for you. So if they say, "No," and their opinions aren't changing, be mature. Don't stomp of and lock yourself in your room. Say "Yes ma'am. Yes sir." And continue what you were doing before.

I would cry in my room and then ask them if there was anyway I could earn the privilege to go to that one or maybe even the next one.

Don't go, and deal with it. They are only looking out for your best interest. They must have a good reason for saying no.

Deal with it. You need to realize that until you live on your own, support yourself and are independant of your parents, your parents have the final say.
