new mattress
wash sheets in hot water every week
dry them in a hot dryer for 30 minutes AFTER they are dry
mattress cover
If you don't start with a new mattress, and you already have them... I doubt you'll get rid of them.

Bedbug infestations have nothing to do with cleanliness (think ticks, not roaches); they are attracted by exhaled carbon dioxide; due to their shape, they can hide in a million different crevices and cracks and are willing to travel nearly 100 feet to reach their food; they don't seem to be particularly slowed down by winter; they can survive up to 18 months without a meal.
There are three main probable causes of bedbug infestation: purchase of used furniture, being somewhere that was severely infested and bringing some with you home, or travel within a place from one to another.
As annoying and unbearable this is, your best option is to discard the infested mattress, replace items that must be thrown away, i.e. mattress, boxspring, bed sheet and anything that may well be likely associated to bedbugs' hideout.)
If you only suffer from a small bedbug infestation, you can buy yourself some bedbug sprays, like NIX or RID. They are best designed to control and eliminate those bugs. Thoroughly vacuum before spraying them liberally in every inch of your house and furniture, carpet or floor...including your clothes and bedsheets, pillow sheets ( make sure you have washed and tumble dried 'em in high temperature at least 30 minutes.
If they are persistent and make a comeback, your best chance is to hire a pest exterminator to fumigate your whole house. Usually they can do that by covering your place inside and out. You'd be suggested to live somewhere else for a day or two during the pesticide in effect and before you could return once it's complete.
Your bedbug bites will go away on their own, but you must wash these bumps with scrub to entirely rinse out the remaining secretion or possible eggs they emitted in them.
I wish you luck on getting this plague under control soon!

Wash all your linen and dry hot. Use a good insecticide and spray mattress and carpeting. I was on the Internet from eithe KSTP or WCCO from Minneapolis about bed bugs coming back. Since we quit using DDT and with so much trave from abroad they are coming back. Your pharmacist will also have suggestions. By the acticle it sounds like it could become a real problem soon. I have never really found anything to take the sting out of bites. Just keep clean and don't scatch them.

Ask your doctor about the bumps. AS for the bugs, they live in oyur mattress. So you might want to throw out your mattress and get a pesticide person to come to your home and check other mattresses/pillows/etc.

I think you should get a new mattress, or give it a really good hoover once a week. have a nice long soak in lavender oil that will make you feel much better. but go to gp first to get cream or meds for the bumps on your skin.

Call an Exterminator, I saw a special on the Today show that said it was next to impossible to get rid of them yourself. They said they are the size of an apple seed so you should be able to see them if you have them and that they will be in your mattress seams at the top of your bed.
