Everyone says Christmas isn't about the money - then they max out the credit cards on gifts......why?

I guess they just feel they have to now-a-days. Kids expect so much...it's sad. I know two kids who get EVERYTHING they ask for, and I'm talking about 5 big presents and tons of others and I think that's wrong. They are spoilt little brats. However, I know a different two and they don't get a lot. They get a main present, then other things and because of it, they are great kids! And really appreciate what they get.

Yes, I have spent allot of money on Christmas gifts before and I started toning it down a couple years ago. I would actually like to just bake stuff and give it out rather then the gift thing people usually do. My in laws draw names out of a hat. I don't like that at all. I think you should just give a gift to who ever you want. Picking a name out of a hat just does not work for me. People always get so up tight around the holidays because of all the Christmas shopping. We all just need to chill out and enjoy what Christmas is really about and it's not the gifts.

Our family puts a $50 limit on gift giving. Then it's like a game to see who can get the most or best presents for each other on a small budget. It's made Christmas more fun and interesting.

Almost everyone I know, goes through this around the same time every year, late summer. Christmas is about giving, true, but of spirit and of heart as well as physical gifts. Myself, I try to put a set limit on gifts every year, and for the most part, I exceed my limit by approx ten or twenty dollars per person. aw well, whatcha gonna do?
