I have been working on my family tree and would like to know the best genealogy sites on the net.?

Question

I really would like to know ones that don't cost 'an arm and a leg'. Also, I have found that the few that I have visited are very much geared for the U. S. audience. I am Canadian with my ancestors being mainly from Great Britain. In some cases I have very little information other than names and birth places of great-grandparents, so will need a LOT of HELP in finding any information.
