I might be able to recommend a company you can contact depending on if its strategy, war game, RPG, action, kids game, online game, etc. A publishing company can help alot with the public relations and getting you known.

Or you can try selling it on a CD online. Doing it yourself thru someplace like CafePress

But doing all of the advertising yourself is a real pain.

If all you have is an idea and you want someone to fund you while you make it, thats almost impossible. If thats all you have then your best bet then is to set yourself up on SourceForge.net and do it as a free game. That will let you gather other programmers and graphics people, create the game, test it, distribute it, get known and get a following. Then your next game, or a sequel of your first one, might have the attention it needs for someone to fund you to make it.
