Yes. I own a company with hourly workers. We need them to work overtime sometime to keep our customers happy. I make sure that they are not overworked which I consider my job. However, a person who refuses to work when I need them or has an attitude about it needs to be replaced.

I hope this different perspective helps you. Good luck!

Great jobs with great pay and benefits are very hard to come by.

But we will never know how great we have it until we hear how someone else job suck. So thanks for sharing. But here's one for you. My brother is a manager of a company in Houston. Very successful, well loved by the company. His wife gave birth to their 1st child. He spent the entire night up at his wife's side until the birth. He called in the next morning hoping to be allowed the day off. His boss told him that if he is not in don't bother coming back. He went to work. He is still a successful manager there. He just knows what to expect. It could always be worse.

Your question had already been answered by someone else
but I hope that by hearing this story you might realize that you might not have it so bad.

be blessed

Of course they can't make you, it's up to you if you want to keep your job. However, don't forget though, when you work more than over 40 hours a week, you qualify for times and a half pay (1 1/2 of what you usually make) as well as holliday pay. Thats the law.

You're hourly, they can basically do whatever they want. There's nothing anywhere that says that an employer cannot require 6 day weeks.
